Posted again in a more appropriate forum:
Hi,
Am considering the above for my IPAQ 3950. Great to use 'out of the box' for car sat nav, but I also want to use it with other applications (eg POI Warner and Memory Map).
Can the hardware be used as a general GPS receiver, or is it tied to the application software that comes with it??
Also, does it require a seperate power supply, eg through the cigar lighter in the car, or does it draw power from the IPAQ? I want to take it out on my mountain bike.
Thanks in advance,
Pete |

You can use it as a generic GPS receiver, it is not tied to a particular software. It does need a special driver, though
It draws its power from the iPAQ, and it draws ALOT, so if you want to take it onto a mountain bike you MUST think about alternative power sources. I've been using the iSUN solar panel, but most reliable is a simple four-pack of AA batteries. _________________ Lutz

Any idea where I can get the driver from - or will it come 'in the box'?

Having checked the downloads pages, I am not sure which one this is.
Is it the Navman iPAQ 3.1.6 Serial Driver that I need - I seem to recall somewhere seeing reference to a Navman driver in relation to INS.
Thanks,
Pete |

yes, that's the one. If it doesn't work, try to use an older version like 3.0.7 _________________ Lutz
