We have the 9534 card in stock now. However, I would recommend the 9532 over this device UNLESS you really need to use it handheld.

Notes from an internal technical email:

----------------------------------------------

I just tried one (that had been returned as faulty), and it works absolutely FINE!

Please note that the nature of a CF card is that it is directly attached to a PDA. This means that the orientation of the antenna is the same as that of the PDA. A GPS antenna needs a good view of the sky.

When I tried it, it navigated (three times) in under 30 seconds, with between 5 and 7 satellites in our car park. This is what I would expect from a GPS receiver - BUT I was careful not to obscure the antenna.

If you walk around with the PDA, you will end up holding the antenna almost vertical, obsuring nearly half of any visible satellites. Further satellites are obscured by the user themselves!

In a car, the antenna position will be even more obscured, by the car roof etc. I would recommend the use of an external antenna which can be positioned much better in a car.

In fact, if the application is for mobile use, I would suggest a 9532 with the appropriate cable which will operate much more reliably. If the user really needs hand held applications, then make sure they are aware of the limitations of the CF card format when in use for GPS.

When a CF card is used in a notebook PC, the situation can be even worse, with the antenna obscured (and receiving interference from) the computer screen.

This is not one of our standard cables, but I am sure we can get one on our next shipment from Taiwan.

E125 p/n is 19000008

E200 p/n is 19000013

Yes I believe you can. I've connected a 9531/2 to a E125, and I believe the only difference between the two connector's is the E125 also supports USB rather than serial, but the pin-outs and connector are the same as I used to use a E105/115 cradle with an E125 at work a lot a few years back.

Is it possible to connect a 9532 GPS to a Casio Cassiopeia E115? And if so, where can you buy the cable?

Royal Mail just came to my door and I signed for delivery. I thought it was going to be my Brodit mount I ordered last week, but it was the Leadtek 9532 with Dell Axim cables for which I placed my order with TDK at the start of the week.

After chasing so long with other retailers for this setup for the Axim without any success, I have to admit I doubted TDK they would be able to come up with the Leadtek 9532 with cables for the Axim but they have done.

TDK advised that there might be a week delay for them to source the Axim cable but they have got it to me much sooner than expected - just tested it out and works perfectly.

After the 9532 took a little while to get its initial fix straight out of the packaging, replugged it all back in and quickly got a 6 then 7 sat fix in a short test drive around my village.

Thanks TDC - this is the model I really have been searching for to go with the Axim and very happy with it.

They will be, but until then, you'll have to order by 'phone! Hopefully they will be on the web on Tuesday.

good point, yes, I'm told (but have not seen yet), that the XDA, Siemens LOOX and Dell cables are available now. We should be getting some of these very soon as well. (as per the £109.99 price). - I had this written down, but forgot to add it to this posting!

Just to advise that the Leadtek 9532 GPS receiver is available at a special price of £110 (inc VAT) plus £10 P&P from TDC.

You need to call Linda on 01256 332800 and mention my name to get the special price.

This price is just for the receiver, so you need to buy the Tom Tom Navigator cable for your PDA separately. (They're about £20).

TDC don't have these, they just stock ordinary USB & serial cables...

Got mine last week. Performance is just the same as the 9531, but the case is smaller.

There's a dinky led built into the case which flashes orange when the receiver is acquiring a fix, flashes green when it has a 3D fix and flashes green extra quickly when it has only a 2D fix...

The normal flashes are once per second, so you find yourself counting the flashes each time you start up to see how quickly it get its fix. (Sad eh?)

I saw it fixed on 11 satellites this lunchtime - a new record for me - has anyone ever seen 12?
