Terrain Database for TOM TOM

Hi

Does anybody know if there is a terrain/maritime database available for TOM TOM 6? I do a lot of hicking and sailing. It would be good if I to use my tom-tom for navigation.

The TomTom range is really geared towards driving only. It will always lock to the nearest road (if you are near enough to a road) so is not much use for off-road use.

For hiking or sailing you will be better off with a device/program that's geared towards that type of use. Others will be along shortly with their suggestions.

If you have one of the standalone TomTom devices then there is little if anything you could put on it for this type of work.

Memory Map or Quo are two PC/ PDA based topographical mapping packages that are worth looking at, Memory Map also support marine mapping - I am not too sure if Quo offer this as yet. - Mike
