I've got the set-up above with the Syson in an HP CF Expansion Pack Plus.
Map data (UK only) is stored on a 128Mb SD card (not Sandisk).
The problem that I have is this:-
I can enter a destination and start driving and the CoPilot will give me voice instructions and, when it's on the passenger screen, also show maps. However the maps are in a small box on part of the IPAQ screen because the top part of the display shows the legend "Determining Current Position". If I have the setting on the driver screen, this message is all that I see- there is no info on ETA, distance to destination etc. as there should be.
When I look at the GPS status screen, I can have up to 12 satellite fixes and latitutude, longitude and elevation are all displayed.
Even if I leave the unit stationary for >2hours, it is still "Determining Current Position".
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and CoPilot have sent me a new set of CDs and I've tried those, all to no effect.
Other things:-
After re-installing the soft-ware, conducting an autoscan on the CoPilot picks up the correct COM port and Baud rate for the Syson.
I install the maps to the SD card via a card reader since ActivSync wouldn't allow me to do it via the IPAQ.
I'm only using ~20Mb of the IPAQ memory.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do next ?
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Thanks and regards,

Have you tried to look at the GPS receiver with a different program ? Crux_View or VisualGPSCE? Maybe the receiver has a hickup and is not delivering the right NMEA sentences. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply Lutz.
I haven't done any of the things that you mention because I don't know what they are.
Any chance you could explain in a way that I might understand (words of 2 syllables or less would help).
Sorry to be dim but I can't help it. |

On this site, select the "Downloads" link in the left menu bar. Then go to "Emtac" or "GPS Tweak tools" to download the appropriate tool. They come with installation and usage instructions. _________________ Lutz

I managed to solve the problem, but not by the route that Lutz suggested.
Instead, I changed the settings on the Syson CF from NMEA to Sirf. As soon as I did this, the screen appearance chaged and the "Determining Current Position" message disappeared to be replaced by turn instructions (driver screen) or bigger maps (passenger screen). In addition, the previously flashing red bars on the display changed from red to orange to, finally, green and the GPS screen showed a 3D lock.
So I've finally got it sorted as they bring out the new version of CP......
I'll use it for a few weeks and then consider whether to go for the upgrade, assuming that CP price it reasonably.
Thanks again for the help and happy motoring and hiking.
