|
|
Hello everyone!
I have a BToe bluetooth adapter. Works great Before I installed the new software. First of all I did not have any label on my BToe with a serial number that i was going to use in the nstallation, but that was a easy thing to fix via the webpage.
When the software was installed i have problem with the com-ports! I cant connect to my fortuna clip-on bluetooth gps receiver, not mine ipaq 2210 either. Btoe says that my clip-on dont have any com ports, and the ipaq only have com 1 and com 2. STRANGE !! I attach some pictures.
I realy need some help!
This shows that I cant shoose com port. Ordinary it com 3!
This happens when I should start a serial connection to my gps receiver.
Please help me out here. _________________ Ipaq 2210 (rom 1.10)

First of all I wouldn't be trying to go for a secure connection, this can cause problems. You should also be using the BToe icon on the task tray and select the option that says something like "I know what type of service I want", then select Serial Port and try from there. |

Exacly what I have tryd! I unistalled the new software that was dated 2004 and installed the old, 2003 software. Works again with all com ports I want.
Another issue: When I installed the new software i had to install the btoes in a different USB port. I did not work in the same... Whyyyy? _________________ Ipaq 2210 (rom 1.10)

I'm not sure the version I installed, I think it was the 2003 version, I haven't tried any updates from their website.
Sometimes Windows can remember USB ports, so sometimes it's best to uninstall the software/drivers, do a cold boot and then try again with the same port. If it still doesn't like it in the same USB port then I suspect it hasn't uninstalled all the drivers.
Sometimes it's best to unplug the dongle, uninstall and reboot in that order, otherwise if you uninstall when the dongle is plugged in, it may not be able to remove some of the drivers.
I have had USB quirks on a lot of devices, where I remove say a card reader, plug it back in and it won't detect it, if I cold boot the laptop it will, or if I choose another USB port on my USB hub it will. Strange, it's really a windows issue than a hardware issue. |

Not that I'm a chicken, I just don't want to break the setup and screw up all these reviews I'm writing :D
I'm usually the first to 'give it a try' but not when I'm reliant on it for several new reviews I'm in the middle of writing, which could put me back indefinitely if it does cause me problems. |

Windows can be notorious for hanging onto removed connections, even a reboot can still leave them in if they are in the Windows registry.
Had a Nokia that sync'd via a serial cable on com 1. Even though the software had been un-installed via Windows the com 1 port was still tied in the registry and Windows would not allow anything else to acccess it untill I had manually removed it from the registry. _________________ Graham.
