TomTom have said they will no longer update maps for my XL IQ Routes 2 after December so I am looking at getting a Garmin device. I use the PGPSW speed camera database.
I want digital traffic so I am looking at the DriveSmart 50LMT-D or 51LMT-D. Can anyone tell me what differences there are between these two models? Are there any good reasons for choosing one over the other?
Cheers,
Al |

I *think* the main difference is that the 51 has built-in WiFi for easier updates etc (i.e. doesn't need connecting to a computer to update the software/maps. Although I think you would still need to connect to computer to install POIs and our speed camera database. |

Other main difference is that the 51 gets traffic from your smartphone. The 50 has a built in receiver.
I wouldn't want a 51 for that reason alone. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks both.
Having read a bit further, I think the LMT and LMT-D both get traffic from the radio, but from classic RDS-TMC and Digital Traffic respectively, using the aerial and receiver on the power lead, and the LMT-S can only get traffic from the Smartphone Link app.
I'm not bothered about wi-fi updates direct to the device, so I'll probably look for the cheaper 50LMT-D.
Cheers,

That's true. I told my mum to get the 51 not realising this... She doesn't have a smartphone :/
Thankfully we got it at a good price and she wasn't fussed about the traffic anyway |
