Can anyone answer this question?
If I buy a Tom Tom Go, can I get the full mapping for Europe? Specifically France.
Some of the websites offering them for sale say that European mapping is not yet available, and that the mapping that is available for other Tom Tom models is not compatible with the 'Go'.
The Tom Tom main website shows European mapping as available for the 'Go' eg France is on a 256mb SD card.
None of the websites that are offering the 'Go' for sale has any mapping on offer under options or accessories.
It's Sunday so I cant ring these folks to ask, they are closed.
Some of the posts here express dissapointment that mapping IS NOT available, with no definative response to say YES or NO.
So what is the situation? Thanks. |

As far as I know the current situation is that TomTom Go only ships with a single country and the Major Roads of Europe. I have heard that people are not able to buy maps for a single country on it's own.
However all this is hearsay. I will send TT an email and find out what the official situation is and when we can expect additional mapping products. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Could you find out re TT3 as well.
I contacted TT to be informed that only option was UK and I could
buy complete western europe coverage from UK dealer.
As I only wanted Norway for couple of weeks hol seemed rather
expensive.
Now, I have been informed that non UK dealers can supply
single regions
Work that one out |

I have spoken with TOMTOM on Friday last, the Navigator maps will not work on GO( I tried my map of France on another SD card it will not load onto the GO machine) TOMTOM says that they will not be supplying individual maps of other european countries, but are working on the full eorpean maps which will include all the main countries, expected to be released at middle to end of July hopefully in time for the main holiday periods, no prices as yet for GO users. |

The official word from the support manager at TomTom is:

Maps of Western Europe will be available end of this month for the TomTom GO. Customer can buy the maps in our webstore. TomTom never sold “only loose countries”, we did sold only countries with our software this the case for for TomTom Navigator 3. There is no planning for selling “each countries separate” but we keep a close eye on our customer needs.

The TomTom 3 and Palm maps will work on GO as they are all the same. The difference is in the activation. TomTom just need to productise and test the CD release, which hopefully will occur very soon. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Does this mean that my map of France sold to me seperately by TOMTOM and upgraded to version 3 will work on my TOMTOM GO, if so how, I have loaded the map as previously stated but the activation code is not accepted by TOMTOM registration. I was informed on Friday that I would have to purchase the new maps to use on my GO, as the maps I use on my IPAQ PDA are not compatable with the GO.
Any advice as to how to use the maps I have would be appreciated I obviously do not want to incur any additional expense unnecessarily!!! |

Mike,
Thank you for making the enquiry. I would really like to buy the Tom Tom Go, but I must have European cover by the end of the month. Unless they could gaurantee a release date and customer delivery date for the mapping, which they dont appear to be able to do, it's all a bit vague, I will have buy the Navman 630V2 which is my next option.
Many thanks anyway. |

There seems to be some confusion regarding maps for TomTom. Hopefully this will clear up all the issues.
1) The physical and logical format of the maps for TomTom 3, TomTom for Palm and TomTom GO are identical. This doesnt mean that they will work across the product lines.
2) When you buy a mapset you buy it for a particular product line. This gives you an activation code for say GO, but will not let you use them for for TT3.
To a certain extent I can understand why they have done this, but it is quite iritating if you have a copy of Europe maps and have now bought the GO. _________________ Mike Barrett |
