|
|
Hi, is it possible to record Hadecs with the same yellow icon as Specs on the camera database? They are both average speed cameras, and I presume that is why the Specs were originally coloured different from a static camera. I always try to stick to the speed limit, but sometimes just keeping up with the traffic can send you over, especially when the speed limit is reduced on Smart motorways. |

I don't think Hadecs are Specs because they are variable.
Specs can only work for average fixed speed between 2 cameras.
What happens if you pass camera 1 when it's showing 60 but seconds after you pass, the limit drops to 40 ? _________________ DashCam:

The point is that they are recording average speed between two or more cameras. They are not a fixed camera. So I would like them to be a yellow icon on the database. |

Hadecs are not average speed cameras. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

HADECS record your speed at that point. They are not logging speeds between multiple cameras.
As such they will stay with the fixed / 'gatso' cameras.

Why would the replace 6 fixed cameras on the M62 around Leeds with a couple of Hadecs? |

If that's what they've done I have no idea, could be numerous reasons. Are you sure though they are Hadecs? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Surely average speed can only be measured between two cameras?
How does it work in a series of average speed cameras?
Exceed the limit between camera 1 and 2 but not between 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 then exceed the limit between 4 and 5 results in one or two penalties? |

If you blat along at a consistent unsafe speed past a series of Specs then who knows _________________ DashCam:

As each camera independently feeds back its data to a 'central' computer (at least number plate and time, and no doubt other stuff), the computer can do what it likes with that data. So why not 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4 etc.? It would be silly to assume that it was doing anything else.
My gut feeling is that multiple overspeed triggers in the same series of cams would only produce one NIP, as when caught bu Mr. Plod, it seems that you only get one ticket no mater over what distance you were speeding. But I'm not going to test this theory. b33jay wrote: | HHGPS wrote: | The point is that they are recording average speed between two or more cameras. . |

Well, I think you could get several penalties in one set of multiple cameras. Assume you well exceed the limit between 1 and 2. You’d still be over for 1 to 3 if you didn’t go well below it for 2 to 3. And so on, getting tickets for 1-2, 1-3, 1-4 etc. Of course, if you are steady until 3, you’d still be timed for 3 to 4. _________________ Dennis
