...Memory Is running out on the above device. I fitted a 16gb micro card when I purchased the device three years ago which I presume is near full .
Can I simply replace that card with new but larger capacity? or do I have to save the content, back it up etc.
Some advice please and also if I need to copy or backup then download to another card again a few tips would be appreciated. |

A 16Gb card should be more than ample, indeed so should 8Gb. What's on the card? What makes you think you're running out of memory? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I always make sure to download the new maps to the memory card (and not to the GPS device itself)... Because the GPS device can become full.
Using Windows explorer, you can see how much free space there is on the device and on also the SD card.

After I had updated my device I checked the memory and looking at Device Storage on Garmin Express[/b] It shows the 'Internal storage' at 95% with just 367.8MB free.
However after posting this question I popped the 16GB card into my PC and found out that in fact this still has some 14.5GB of free space so I was wrong to assume the info on Garmin Express included the 16GB Memory card.
Indeed the card contains some files relating to the device so I guess after the internal memory is full it automatically uses the install memory card or am I wrong? |

See my last posting re memory card and my 'wrong assumption'
I use 'Garmin Express'to update my device and cannot see how to download updates to the memory card perhaps you would be kind enough to give some pointers as to how to achieve this if the device does not automatically 're-route' updates to the card when the 'Internal Storage' is full. |

Correct, and Express as you've found doesn't list the sd card space. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

As posted above it does, at least for map updates. Other updates are put on internal memory. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thank you for your quick reply much appreciated.
Your next post mentions the internel memory stores all the other updates but not maps so given the available spce is all but gone can I delete some of the maps I do not use to free up the internal memory - such as Eastern Europe or would doing so creata furth issues? |

Software updates don't go onto the memory you can see, so not really an issue, and over 300 Mbs on what you can see is more than ample so no need to mess about with it. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
