Wondered if anyone else with this or similar satnav agrees with me
1-it always seems to Come on when not needed and is so difficult, sometimes to get it to come on when I need it ....wish it had a simple on off switch
2-when a destination is chosen by voice command it only says " do you want to proceed to this destination , needs a sound bite added of the actual destination e.g Fred's house
3-have a proper multi stop planner, as on navman models

1. It does, so not sure what you're on about?
2. Suggest at http://www8.garmin.com/contactUs/ideas/ although since you've chosen the destination where else would it be taking you to?
3. It does, it's called Trip Planner and can be found in the Apps menu. What part are you struggling with? Very Happy

3. It does the whole trip. Earlier trip planners prior to 2013 didn't so you may have been reading old comments.

1. Ah OK. But no need to use the switch if you don't like it as it'll power down when power is removed.

2. Doesn't cause me an issue but if enough folks complain Garmin may change it.

My 2599 turns off with a quick press of the button. It does need to be pressed and held to turn on though - but - I only need to do that indoors after an update.

In the car it auto powers on, instantly, and off with the 15 second countdown, with vehicle power.

If this satnav was used with a modern car, where the engine turns off automatically at traffic lights etc, then the satnav would keep coming on every time the engine is restarted, which is why a physical ' slide' off switch would be handy, guess other satnav have this issue also

Ah, I see the problem now. Connecting the ciggy Power connector to a permanent 12V would fix that problem.

Yes, some of the new cars now have two 12V sockets, but would need a mod to make it permananet.....

Perhaps if the satnav had a 4minute delay, that might work..

Having said that though. I think the load on the starter could temporarily cut power.

I know my built in unit reboots when I start the car. That's after stopping say in a layby, not turning the ignition fully off, so the radio is still playing, then starting the car.

If that's the same with SS then that would drive me more crazy than now.

I still think SS must cause premature wear on the starter and flywheel. Time will tell.
