I'm looking at moving from the dark side (tom tom) and buying a Garmin because of the non compatibility of the newer TTs.
I'm interested in the Nurvi 57LM or 58LM. Would I be able to load the speed camera data onto these sat navs?
The compatibility chart just lists the Nurvi. Does that cover all the models in that range?

Yes you will, all nuvis can use the PGPSW data. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

If you can stretch to it consider the LMT-D versions because the digital traffic is well worth the extra. _________________ DashCam:

If I can possibly extend this conversation, I am also thinking of doing something similar.
In the past, the recommended models were often the 2598LMT-D & 2599LMT-D. I believe these have now been superseded; the 2598 in particular is not easy to find.
Is there a recommended equivalent model in the current range? I suspect it might be the DriveSmart 50 LMT-D. If so, are these any better than the 2598 / 2599, or would the older model be just as good?
Are there any significant differences between the ranges which I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

The only one I would advise against is the one with the camera. I had one for 24hrs and returned it.
Because of the central camera the ball joint is on one edge and allows the whole unit to vibrate.
My other issue with the new Drive units is the voice control. My 2599 uses proper words like 'Go Home' but the Drive unit I had was number controlled.
When you said 'Voice Command' it presented a menu. The menu has numbers and you say the number you want. From that number you get a sub menu with more numbered menus or commands.
Before you can do this it needs to record your voice saying the numbers 1 to 9. I've got no regional dialect but no matter how I said the numbers it refused to record 3 and 5 because it said they were too close to my recorded 2 and 4 respectively.
I tried "toooo" and "thhrreeee" but it was having none of it.
My 2599 has been rock solid. _________________ DashCam:
