|
|
I recently purchased a new desktop PC and a new laptop both running windows10. I downloaded the CSV to GPX converter programme and proceeded to download the speed camera database.
I get the following error messages on both PC,
"File names should not have a number in them.
Example Gatso_fifty.csv not Gatso_50.csv"
When I try to process the files I get the following message:-
"You'll need Administrator Permission to copy to this folder"
Since both computers give the same error messages it must be Windows10. Has anyone else have the same problem and have they resolved it?
I had no problems with my old PC running Windows Vista. |

The first error is because you have used Windows to unzip the PGPSW zip file. Use the program because it performs additional required processing.
The filenames need to be full alpha characters and not alphanumeric or Garmins logic overrides the GPX logic.
Error 2 could be your choice of working folder. It needs to be a folder that you have full control over.
I know of 2 users using Win10 without issue. _________________ DashCam:

I suspect it's nothing to do with this issue, but Win10 is a pain when it comes to folder permissions. Even with full admin rights some folders need to be manually changed, folders that in Win7 would be accessible. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Change the working folder to somewhere in 'Documents' and download the .CSV to there. And as kremmen said, it is VITAL that you use the program's unzip feature. I have no problem with my two W10 machines, but I do have the working folder in 'Documents' but it has been redirected top off my SSD C:\ drive onto a 20th century spinny disk type drive though. |

It's the latest all singing, all dancing operating system offering from Microsoft that saves people from being left in the last century K. |

Sending your data (allegedly telemetry) to 51 website addresses.
The way M$ used sneaky tactics to fool users into installing it made me highly suspicious so I avoided it. _________________ DashCam:

I deleted my WinZip application, uninstalled CSV converter application and created a new folder in "documents".
I then downloaded CSV converter again and ran the setup application. I then got a screen message that stated " Missing PM3 or WAV files detected then a list of all the files all with numbers instead of alpha characters eg GATSO_50.csv.
I then clicked OK and the CSV converter application appeared already loaded with files although I had not downloaded any from the PGPSW database. Again the files had numbers instead of alpha characters.
I have repeated the above process twice, each time with the same result. Why does the CSV application have files installed even although I have not downloaded any. |

Not wishing to appear facetious, but have you read Kremmen's help file included in the CSV to GPX converter. This details exactly what to download etc. and the 'Install' section tells you what files go where.
The file names for the sound (.WAV) files and the picture (.BMP) file should be in the format gatso_forty etc. with no numeric characters. If you have numerics in the filenames shown in the CSVtoGPX converter, you have downloaded the wrong ones.
The unzipped .CSV friles should be in a similar format as long as you use the program's unzipper.
You say you have not downloaded various files. If you downloaded the correct thing, the correct .BMP and .WAV files are included in the download. |

Thanks M
It's one of those things that once you've done it once, and got it working, then the next time is very quick as it's all in place.
I can update my Garmin in minutes. _________________ DashCam:

Agreed, the vital thing is to follow EXACTLY the instructions. Once that's been done future updates take minutes. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Success, by using my C:\ drive instead of "Documents" to create working folder.
Still seem to have problems with sound but I will work on that.
Thanks to everyone for their help. |

Sound will be the sox.exe
Plenty of topics covering that. _________________ DashCam:

The help file tells you exactly where to put sox.exe and it's included in the CSV converter download. |

Just use Spybot Anti-Beacon to disable all the sneaky entries you want blocked. _________________ Garmin 2569LMT-D s/w 8.80 + Western Europe map 2019.10
