Average speed cameras are being prepared for installation on the M40.
Resurfacing work by Highways England starts next week between junction 6 at Adwell, and junction 8 at the A40 Oxford spur.
There will be a temporary 50mph speed limit throughout the stretch and cameras will be in place to protect the workforce. The work is likely to be finished by Christmas.
Traffic monitoring sensors will be also be installed in the road surface.
A Highways England spokesman commented: "This major resurfacing work will improve people's journeys along the M40 by providing them with a better driving experience. We've planned our work carefully to minimise disruptions to road users, by carrying out the majority of the work using lane closures and overnight when traffic flows are low."

Another good move. I use the M40 from 1 to 8 when I go to Malvern. OK, I tend to hover around 60 to 65 but some come past me like I'm going backwards.
Also, that stretch by High Wycombe is always having prangs. _________________ DashCam:

Traveled on that section of the M40 today and the SPECS cameras are up already, with a sign stating that the roadworks will start on 10 September 2016 for 14 weeks. _________________ Robert.

There's no 50mph signs yet but the average speed cameras are there. Are they on yet? Went through this evening and didn't see them in the pitch black. The road works have not yet started and again, there are no signs indicating a reduced speed limit yet. |

If there are no clear signs then it's business as usual.
Normally you can't miss the reduced speed signs. _________________ DashCam:

They usually put "camera not in use" signs once the cameras are up. Still, I would hazard a guess that until there's no speed signs up that, at the very least, they're turned on at 70 but more likely not turned on at all. |

There was no pre warning of roadworks in the next 3 miles, 2 miles, 1 mile etc. Then no reduced speed limit, or free recovery signs. However, there were no Camera Not In Use signs. So I assume it was NSL. |
