|
|
Hi,
I recently had an Ipaq 1940 with TomTom3 and Fortuna Bluetooth Clip On GPS, and had no problems whatsoever.
I have now just bought an XDA II and reinstalled the TomTom3 software etc. It works absolutely fine as long as the Fortuna GPS device is switched on and it can bond over bluetooth. However, if the Fortuna is switched off and I try and start TT3, I just get the "busy" symbol in the middle of the screen for a few seconds this symbol freezes and the device locks up, which I can only resolve with a re-start. I have tried switching bluetooth off on the XDA II, but the same problem occurs. I used to be able to open TT3 on the Ipaq and view maps and plan journeys without having to have the bluetooth switched on.
Currently have the device configured as NMEA 0183v2 Bluetooth on COM5. TT3 Version 3.01(409) English GB Map.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Many Thanks. _________________ O2 XDA II - Rom 1.66.00WWE - Radio 1.10.00

Try to go back to an old GPS driver (version 2.07 is available from this site).
See if the same problem occurs if you follow these steps
- soft reset
- Start > Settings > System > GPS - disable GPS
- start TTN3 _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the fast reply.
Downloaded the old GPS driver V2.07, reset, and still get same problem.
Reinstalled GPS driver from TTN3 CD - appears to be V2.07 anyway.
I've gone to TT website and upgraded to 3.03 software (from 3.01) and V3.03 GPS, and still get same problem. Please excuse my ignorance, but I can't seem to find an option to disable GPS following Start>Settings>System>GPS. I get the three tabs Status/GPS/Log, but im unsure how to disable the GPS from any of these screens!
Any more ideas please? |

on the second tab, remove the check mark. This will have you running without GPS connection.
Make sure you always do a soft reset BEFORE you try the installation. You probably still had the other driver running when you tried to install the new one. _________________ Lutz

I have got exactly the same problem with an Orange SPV (rebranded XDAII) and the fortuna and am using the GPS 3.03 application.
TomTom advise playing around with the COM port settings i.e. change to Bluetooth GPS rather than COM5: which I haven't had a chance to try yet.
Would be interested in any other ideas as it's a real pain. |

Yes that seems to work - changing from COM5 to BLUETOOTH GPS. I can now run TTN3 without having the Fortuna GPS switched on! :D , and when I switch the Fortuna on, it then bonds OK with the XDA 2. |

Baldy: I still have the same issue as you had before.
How did you manage to thick the box when "NMEA Bluetooth" and "Bluetooth GPS" are selected in TomTomGPS 3.0.3.
I already figured that maight solve my problem, but I can't thick the box . . .
At the moment I am still stuck with "NMEA Bluetooth" and "COM5" which makes my MDAII almost freeze when I start TomTom 3. |

You have to stop the GPS driver first. Untick the box, then select the new settings , then tick the box again. _________________ Lutz

That is the way I tried it:
Untick the blue-ish box
Select new setting ('NMEA vxxxx Bluetooth' and 'Bluetooth GPS')
But I can't tick the blue-ish box anymore then
The only way I get it working (ie tick the blue-ish box) is to select in the lower dropdown box "COM5".
I am still puzzled |

I have been investigating this annoying issue with "ronald2oo2" on xda-develoeprs.com.
He does not have any issues like we do with his 1.72.00WWE ROM.
We did notice some interesting differences between his and my device-behaviour. Also the registry settings between him and me are quite different.
The biggest difference between the two devices is the origin of the OS rom. He uses the iMate based rom, I use the Qtek based rom.
Could anyone with 1.72.00WWE OS ROM, BT GPS and TT3 please post:
1. If (s)he has the possibility of checking the blue--ish box in TomTom GPS when the port is set to 'Bluetooth GPS': YES / NO and with what protocol (NMEA, SiRF, GPS specific)
2. What the origin of the 1.72.00WWE (OS!) rom is: QTEK, iMate, T_MOBILE beta, . .... _________________ eDsuB

I get it to work with EVERY NMEA or SiRF setting, as long as I select COM5 as the port . . .
Do you have any answers on the other questions for me? _________________ eDsuB
