Just updated my xl live to new v966 w Europe map and disaster. I've now lost all my poi's (database of 120 customers), favourites and all my speed cams from this site.
I believe I have a windows backup from a while back but what do I need to extract from it and where do I place it on this device (to also maintain the new map).
This has never happened before with any map update done in the past?
Update was done thru tomtom home.
Gutted if I've lost this info.
Many thanks for any help.

Hi Tony,
As you have a TomTom PND that uses TomTom Home, you should be able to connect your PND to your computer and see it as an external drive.
Your favourites are kept in the mapsettings.cfg file which are found in your map folder.
Back up your mapsettings.cfg file first then replace it with your older one from a previous backup. If that works then OK if not replace the old one with the newer mapsettings.cfg file.
If you used proximity alerts for PGPSW speed cameras (that worked prevuisly) then they should work again when you use the older mapsettings.cfg file.
As for POIs, just load them (.ov2, .bmp, and possibly .ogg files) back into your map folder.
Finally it's best to save your favourites in a POI file and not rely on the locations being saved in your favourites. Also backup every time you update the map. By the way back up by copying the whole of the PND to a new folder and don't rely on TT Home backup!

That's great info.
Many thanks Robert. I will try this as soon as I get home tonight.
