Hi

My TT3 with Navman 3400 jacket and 512MB Integral CF card works fine, a lovely program. A big improvement over my old SmartST software in many areas, thought the address look-up on SmartST puts TT3 to shame for it's sheer speed. The TT3 addresslook-up is, well, crap.

However.. onto my post, I tried a 1GB Microdrive and found that when driving under a graphically 'busy' area like a multi-junction motorway flyover, the program locks up, specifically the 'GPS Status' shows itself sort of 'stunned', the little moving dots on the GPS graphic move, but never get all the wat across.

A return to the solid state storage cures the problem. Anyone else had the same issues? I have read that some suspect with the Microdrive TT3 cannot strip data quickly enough, or the current drain hampers the GPS circuits somewhat.

My 2 cents worth is that it's a pity TT3 doesn't have some facility to self-diagnose enough to detect that the GPS has packed in and give the driver some audible warning. Sometimes many miles can be wasted before one realises the GPS has gone down.

Be nice also if there were some means of indicating battery state
of GPS unit.

I don't know if TT3 works any differently, but TT2 does a lot of I/O and won't work very well even with a slow SD card. I can't see it standing any chance with a Microdrive.

The TT GPS app does give different audible indications when you gain or lose signal. You can also tell if you've got a fix on the TT screen from the number of sats/signal strength indicator.
