I used to have Holux and it worked fine. Then I have changed it to Hiacom 204S and it works really strange. It can lock position in cold or warm stage only if amount of tracking satellites is equal to amount of satellites in view. Some time I see situation like 10 satellites in view and 8 tracked and it cannot lock position. And it can stay in this condition for hours. And sometimes its 6 satellites in view and 6 tracked and it locks immediately. Can I do something with this? Because now every ride for me is a lottery.

I have had the very same problems with my 204S not locking half the time, and had almost given up on it (have even had unit replaced once). Then my mate said he remembered something about interferance from the car windscreen pillar, so i have moved the GPS unit to the center of my dash and since then have had VERY good GPS reception (most of the time 5-7 sats).

Try moving to the center if you have it to the side if not sorry cant help.

I think I have the same problem maybe, I will try it today and post my findings.

To solve this problem I mounted the receiver to the roof of the car, and the signals were much better (see other post).

Maybe the colored glass in my windscreen has also an effect on the signals?!
