|
|
Hi all,
It's my first post so apologies if this is in the wrong place!
I am a new driver and purchased a Garmin Nuvi 2589LM in John Lewis (London) on Friday. So far I have experienced some issues, which I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on...
1. The most pressing issue-the unit won't charge in the car! The cigarette lighter definitely works, but the device will not charge when plugged in to the car charger. The car is running, but there is no life at all in the charger. No green light to indicate a charge, and the device is now dead, so it's definitely not working-is this a known issue with this model, or do I have a duff product that I need to take back?!
2. I bought this model specifically for the Active Lane Guidance feature. However, (and I live in central London), it just doesn't seem to work. The 'lane assist' feature is fine, and working, but I am yet to see anything from the 'split screen' ALG feature that I wanted. It just hasn't kicked in yet-I haven't been on a motorway however, so is this feature just for motorways.....?
3. I searched the Garmin website for the user manual to try and solve these issues myself, but there is no mention AT ALL of the nüvi 2589LM model? In fact, the only mention of this model I can find online is on the John Lewis website..where I bought it. Is it marketed under a different name in the UK?
Hoping someone can help..currently pretty disheartened with this device and ready to take it back to the shop!
Thanks all. |

If it's not charging you have a faulty cable. Take it back.
User manual is same as for the 2507/2508 series. |

1)
First check - some modern cars have a power socket/ciggy lighter hole that is slightly deeper than the standard. I know the Honda Civic is one of them.
The central prong may not be touching the bottom. _________________ DashCam:

Yes, try the cable in another socket (in the boot or another car) to check it's OK.
Faulty cables are known but rare. |
