I installed the new maps on my Garmin 3590 but when I plug in my Nuvi 760, which I keep as a back up, just in case, there is no map update showing as available. I bought lifetime updates for this device a few years ago and I have been able to update both sets of maps until now.
Does this mean that Garmin have stopped supporting this model? |

My 3598 can't hold all the European maps from this update in internal memory. It does have an unused SD card of 4Gb but this doesn't seem to be recognised by Garmin Express on my Mac.
Does the SD card need formatting or is there some other way to activate the card for map storage?

I've just discovered that GarminMapUpdater doesn't work on Windows XP any more. When I run it, it just says I ought to go to the web site and buy some maps even though it recognises my device and I have Lifetime Update.
Garmin Express also won't install on XP!
Good job I have a Windows 7 laptop and only 2014.40 available and installing (unless I have to install that first before I can install 2015.10 which knowing Garmin wouldn't be a surprise).
I'll have to copy the maps across to my main XP machine to use BaseCamp and hack the registry to find the Unlock Code.
All the time with Garmin it's one big hassle to update maps. _________________ Mark B

Are you sure MapUpdater isn't working? When you run it when it says about buying maps there should be a link saying something like 'I have a product code'. That code can be found on the myMaps tab in myGarmin. |

Yes I saw that and went online to look for a Product Code but the web site has changed stuff and just kept telling me I'll need Garmin Express to update my maps. It showed me my existing maps but not details of any new one, just a link to Garmin Express. _________________ Mark B

In the myMaps tab click on Details then on the Map Updates tab ... that should list all your maps with their unlock codes (you need to scroll down to see them). |

Yes, but they only appear after you have updated :-).
I suppose I could update the map on the Garmin device only on the Windows 7 laptop, and then use MapUpdater on the XP PC to download the maps using the code. _________________ Mark B

I've never found that ... are you looking at the correct tab? There are 3, Map Updates, Map Downloads and Installed Maps ... each show what they say. Map updates are ones that are available, whether you've downloaded them or installed them or not. |

No, map updates showed me an update 2014.40 was available with the link to Garmin Express to get it. No product code was available at that time and was only available after I updated the device only. _________________ Mark B

Yes, it's strange but that's the way it is. 2015.40 will be the last of the 2015 updates and will happen around Feb 2015 so I guess that's why
Note for those that download to their PC for Basecamp to use, Basecamp fails with an error message once 2015.10 is downloaded. Fix is to uninstall then reinstall Basecamp. |
