Hi, new to this and just wondered if anyone could help me, im looking at downloading the speed camera alerts and have seen i have to sign up for gpsworld subscription. If i was to sign up for this and download the files etc and then cancelled the subscription so it doesnt automatically take money out in 12 month would i still get the speed camera warnings? Is the subscription just so you can do updates. I no this may sound like a silly question but reading the info from nissan you have to have a monthly subscription and the way i read it says u only get the alerts for 1 month unless u subscribe again. Any help would be appreciated.
Thankyou |

Your assumption is correct. Once you have subscribed, you can download and install the PGPSW database as many times as you like during the 12 month period. However, the database itself doesn't have a time limit, and once installed on your device, will continue to give you camera alerts for ever.
On the other hand, allowing your subscription to lapse and continue to operate with an out-of-date database is not recommended. Do you realise how many camera positions change on a monthly basis? In particular, mobile locations and Specs cameras are especially liable to frequent change. This makes an old out-of-date copy of the database virtually useless as you cannot rely on the accuracy of any of the information it contains. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Thankyou for your reply, how do you know when there is an update? I have only found the 1 link for downloading the details so do you have to download again every few month or are you notified when there is an update? Im going to get the full subscription but just wanted to check how it worked 1st. Thanks again and any info on updates would be appreciated if u know |

The database is updated every Wednesday and to keep up to date, re-download Wed night. (There are announced exceptions when the database manager has the temerity to take a holiday though). The updates are announced on the forums here.
Yes, up to three devices in the same [s]family[/s] household
The Android and iPhone database for CamerAlert is constantly updated and can be re-downloaded as often as you want, several times a day if that's what floats your boat.

Yep, in the same household is fine (and of course a lot cheaper than one subscription per car or satnav). _________________ Dennis
