Just bought a used 1005 off some guy on eBay, it seems to work perfectly apart from the fact I can't connect to my pc. I'm running Windows 8 if that helps.
Any help would be most appreciated
cheers Paul _________________ Paul

You need to use MyTomTom with that device. Get it at tomtom.com/getstarted. _________________ David |

Still not connecting! Can't see it in My Computer as extra drive either.
I've just subscribed to HD Traffic so I have the latest cameras, but I'd rather put Pocketgpsworld camera alerts on _________________ Paul

In theory, no reason to avoid them. In reality, more than one user has found that the combo of MyTomTom and a usb 3 port don't work well, if at all. Connecting to a usb 2 port has resolved connection issues.
TomTom has never officially commented on this anomoly but the suggestion to avoid the usb 3 is provided by many. _________________ David |

I had similar problem and found connecting directly to a USB port (not a hub) was the solution. (Assuming you have the MyTomTom software installed).
The device never shows as a drive AFAIK. |

Cheers for your help but still nothing. I've installed My TomTom, plugged the lead into a port at the rear of PC, but it still says not connected.
The pc makes a noise like it's connected and the TomTom device has a pc symbol at bottom left but nothing happens! _________________ Paul

What makes you think it's not connected to the computer?
How did you manage to get the latest TomTom cameras WITHOUT connecting?
Every week or so, my computer tells me there are updates available and tells me to connect my 1005. Then when I plug it in, it can download mapshare corrections, quickgpsfix and speed cameras. I can NOT get speed cameras without being connected. _________________ Dennis

HD Traffic is part of Live Services, which includes both traffic and speed cameras. _________________ Dennis

I've encountered this conundrum. TT states that HD includes SC, but there is clearly a d/l update too.
I believe I've seen new/updated cameras appear from both.
Whether it is by class (permanent vs temporary, eg) or simply only small deltas via Live Services, I have no idea. Cynically I suspect that it is only corrections to d/l SC that comes over LS. But of course it helps TT Mtkg to sell HD Traffic if SC is part of LS.
And of course, neither are very current!
Separately, does anybody know what happens to your own corrections to SC? If they get adopted do you end up with 2 at the same/similar spot, or do they delete/reposition your attempt? _________________ Go Premium X / Go 1005 |
