I seem to remember that there is a limit to the number of POI's that can be installed in a Sat Nav otherwise some will not show. Now, I downloaded my usual last week and now they don't show while driving but DO when I get the unit to do a demo run.
I did download some extra POI's a few days ago so do I need to reduce? If so, what's the limit?
For your information, I have two sets of maps installed, UK only and UK and Western Europe and the cam database in installed in each. |

What device are you referring to? I'd take a guess at TomTom but could do with the info from the horses mouth ;)

I think I counted 58 POI's excluding the speed cams! |

Sorry. My first post should have said that the Speed Camera's don't show but that the other POI's do (at least the ones that I passed such as Tesco etc).
I'll get this posting sorted eventually!! |

Sorry, been out all day. Can you try removing all the other non-camera POIs and see if that changes things?

Done that but no difference.
What I have noticed when looking at POI's directly via "Show POI category on map" within the device, is that the Speed Cam POI's are duplicated (and I'm not saying this has happened today and as a result of deleting as you suggested).
The first lot have the usual tick and next to that is a red square icon! But the other group have the tick and the usual icons.
When I look at the contents through the computer, each speed cam has THREE entries associated with it i.e.
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40_X2.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.bmp
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.OV2
Shouldn't there be only two per camera? |

Working backwards....
The three files you have listed is correct: you have an .ov2 data file, a .bmp icon file which shows on the road on the driving display and the map view and the second "X2" .bmp is the double sized icon which shows in the top left corner of the screen when you approach a camera.
You could also have a FOURTH file for each camera type, which would be the .ogg audio file for the optional voice warnings.
------
Now, the ones you are seeing with a RED icon, means that you have some .ov2 POI files that do not have icon files installed for them. The .bmp files for the icons always need EXACTLY the same name as the .ov2 files, so if you have got the camera POI files installed twice then you MUST have some slight differences in the names of them. Can you check that carefully, please, using Windows Explorer to view all the files on the 940?
I'm fairly certain the problem is caused by multiple downloads and the installation to your two maps
So I think the simplest thing to do might well be to:
1. delete ALL the files with "PocketGPS... " in the names from BOTH map folders. Then,
2. download a fresh set from this site,
3. reload them into BOTH maps folders and then
4. switch between the two maps using "Switch map" and then do all the "Warn when near" setups for all cams in BOTH maps. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

If so, have a look at This Post. _________________ Richard

Yes, I am using a Mac. Will devote this afternoon to sorting it all out.
Andy_P. As above, and will report back. |

I did what both of you suggested and deleted all PGPSW POI's and downloaded a trial version of Blueharvest. Re-installed the Speed Camera files to both maps and applied the 'warn when near' but when I went for a ride, the icons were there but not the audio warning.
Having read the thread on the mac issues, I decided to 'navigate to' and the audio was now switched on. Now. How do I get it to perform as it used to when it shows icons and audio even when NOT following a route. |

It is generally recommended to have as few POIs as possible 'showing' on the Map, as it can slow down the Map redraw dramatically.
Much better to use Warn When Near as much as possible.

Leave it unticked to get a warning at all times. _________________ Richard

Thanks Oldboy. Have done everything you have suggested. Will take to the road in the morning to see it in action and report back. |
