Anyone else have trouble connecting to PGPSW site on Saturday 23rd evening.
I'm using Firefox and I tried several times it just hung their trying to connect.
No problems with other websites but I've noticed PGPSW website runs very slowly on many occasions recently _________________ HUAWEI P30 Pro (new edition) with Speedtrap Alert & alcatel1 for SatNav

There was an explanation on the PocketGPSWorld Twitter page yesterday lunchtime:
Quote: | The website is currently down. We’re just doing some fixy fixy right now. Also means you can’t update CamerAlert at the moment too. |
Other people commented here on the site being slow recently. _________________ Anita

Looks like we were under a DOS attack yesterday. All seems to be back to normal now though.
As Anita hinted at it's always worth checking our twitter feed for anything like this. http://www.twitter.com/pocketgpsworld - you don't need to sign up or register to see out updates and it's the easiest way to get information broadcast if the site is down.

Thanks MaFt
I was aware of the Twitter feed but not interested in being a twitter twitterer I didn't know I could read the feed without registering.

Try this.
I had never visited Titter until MaFt said that's where to check when the site's slow. I never intend to visit it again, except for the same purpose. I know so little about it that I referred to it as a page, whereas it seems it's a feed. _________________ Anita

OK, so having clicked Anita's thingy it showed me something vaguely recognisable but quite incomprehensible (and I don't have a grandchild to hand). Does that mean I too have now visited Titter? It really didn't do anything for me, so in future if I have concerns about site performance, I shall again text MaFt (or now even an expert - Anita). I can't be doing with that Twit stuff. _________________ Dennis

But that's just another link that won't be there when the pgpsw site is down, which I believe is the point that Dennis was making. .
Nah, let's all text MaFt like wot Dennis does |

I was assuming that, like me, Dennis would bookmark it. _________________ Anita

Create a Twitter account and then follow @PocketGPSWorld.
We also post status updates to our Facebook page when we can't post to the site.
It was down for a couple of hours again yesterday evening. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No thank you.
I made the mistake of creating a Facebook account when PGPSW suggested following them, and have regretted it ever since. Far too much information accessible to people I don't know, even without entering personal information on my account.
People I've only ever contacted via email are suggested as "Friends", and even those I've never contacted online, like my granddaughter's ex-childminder.
So when I have problems accessing the site I'll continue to check the PGPSW Twitter feed without signing up. _________________ Anita

That's a shame Anita. Unlike Facebook, which I have no love for, Twitter is something very different and you can involve yourself in it as much, or as little, as you like.
You don't have to share any personal information at all if you prefer not to.
Up to you at the end of the day though! _________________ Darren Griffin |
