|

If you drive on Scottish roads then you'll need to take even more care than usual as their speed cameras are being upgraded from wet film to digital operation.
The Scottish Government has approved a £2.4m spend to upgrade all fixed road-side speed cameras to digital and connect them to speed camera partnership offices. The upgrade will remove the need for cameras to be visited and film removed for processing.
As with the current system, not every cameras will be live, the digital cameras units will be rotated around the network with the number of dummy cameras remaining the same. But, unlike the current system where live cameras may be inoperative having used up all the film available, the digitally cameras will not be constrained by lack of film.
The upgrade also adds the ability to monitor them 24hrs a day to detect faults or interference.

There's so many things that are better in Scotland, there have to be some downsides! |

Only £2.4m for that wide upgrade? Seems to be good value! Bet the forum is looking forward to welcoming more new paying members from that country. Yes? Guys? What? Oh. _________________ iOS rokcs (but my typing - well....)

This is one of the recently destroyed cameras on the A68. Passed site yesterday and there appeared to be a completely new camera (New design, shape etc) rather than a replacement Gatso. Maybe this is the start of the digital camera upgrade. Couldn't get a picture as driving. Also seemed to sit a lot higher up too. _________________ Adam |
