Hi
I have a tom tom go 700 and i have downloaded your speed camera data base and a few other poi's and installed them onto the device.
However, when I look at the content of my western europe map using my computer, I can see that the files are in there as there are numerous .bmp and .0v2 files but when I disconnet the tom tom from the computer and then try to find the poi's and speed cameras using the POI screen on my 700 , i get no indication that the files are in there !!!!!
Has anyone any suggestions as to what is going on ?????
Many thanks

You "see" the POIs (including speed cameras) by simply Browse Map - they'll show up then.
Providing you have actually enabled them - Change Preferences, Show POI on Map. However, be aware that if you select zillions of POIs to show on map, you may suffer from slow screen refresh rates. (I only ever had the cameras showing and never suffered for it). You also need to have them (cameras) "Warn When Near".
Of course, nothing will show up if there are no POIs near you when you Browse Map. If that is the case, you could try Find, POI, POI Near You. _________________ Dennis

I presume from the phrase 'POI Screen', you mean where you select which category you want to set up with Warn when near.
The first point is, do you have 2 Europe Map folders on the Unit? Are you looking in the right one.
Go to Manage Maps - Switch Maps. If only one is shown then try a pin-in-the-hole reset. If two are listed, try changing to the other one.
If that doesn't work we'll have to think of something else. _________________ Richard

"I presume from the phrase 'POI Screen', you mean where you select which category you want to set up with Warn when near[/i][/i]".
Sorry, but what I meant from the above is that when you tap the main screen of tom tom then go to "navigate to" then tap "point of interest" then tap on any of the screens that show such as POI near you, POI in city, Poi near home etc etc etc.
Also I have checked and there are 2 maps on my tom tom, one of them is an old GB map only and the other is a newish Western Europe map, which is the one that is showing and selected.
It is this one that I get to see the speed cameras and POI's on when I look at the contents on the tom tom using my PC , but when I try to find them using the various screens on the tom tom after disconneting from the PC they are not showing.
I hope that explanation helps
Thanks Jimmy merlin

Have you done this? You have to select each POI to show from the list of them on the TomTom. That means that when you go to "Show POI on map", you get a whole list of POI categories and you have to tick the ones you wish to show. _________________ Dennis

How many is "numerous"?
If it's an old 700, you are likely to be using an old version of the software. On some previous versions, there were limits on the number of POI categories you could install. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

To speed up the diagnosis of the problem, can you repost with some more precise details please, Jimmy merlin ?
We need the EXACT name of the folder you have put the files into, the EXACT name (heading text) of the screens you have used to set up the POIs etc. etc.
The more details you can give, the quicker and easier it is to spot where you've gone wrong. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Here's a picture of my GO700 map folder (two years ago). Obviously you and I will have different POIs, but this is where you should be finding yours. Does this help?
