Although the new facilities in the v.2.0 software are very nice, the routing are just terrible.
Next week I take the family to Scotland on vacation, but I would like to hear anybody familiar with Scotland state their opinion on whether I should reinstall 1.96.
Thanks.

Hi there
You haven't said what hardware you are using but presumably your software is fully modified with the latest Service Packs if applicable to your unit Similarly where are you located please
I've plotted a several Scottish routes on my iCN just as a check and it seemed OK, but i've never journeyed there to use it in anger. I should think though that someone on the forum has and will be able to give you a more definitive answer.
Regards

Thanks for replying.
Sorry I should have mentioned the setup:
Hardware: Navman 3450 SE (the sleeve).
Software: v 2.00.0036 SP2
I am located in Denmark.
Everything works OK. It is just that routing is very bad. Of course if you drive in unknown places you may not know that you being directed off the direct route
To me it seems that v.1.96 was a lot more accurate, and I also understand that the quality of the new charts leave a lot to be desired. So I am really tempted to go back to the previous version (but will really miss the Outlook lookup).
Cheers

|

Hi,
This topic makes me wonder, what is really the newest (and best) release of SmartST V2 for Navman 34xx.
I am running V2 2.00.0029 SP1 on a Navman 3400. According to Navman's download page, there is a SP2 version. Is that the 2.00.0036 ?.
Also according to the download instructions, you should ensure that you have a 1.9x version before upgrading. So can I upgrade or what ?
The SP2 should have "more efficient routing" and some other nice improovements, according to Navman, but I really dont want to upgrade, if that is not true.
Have you any experinces on this ?
Cheers,
Frits

If you are running build .0029 then the SP2 upgrade is for you. The confusion might lie in the fact that version 1.91 also had an SP2 and Navman don't seem to be the best at updating their website.
Launch your Navman Desktop application and from there select the 'Visit Navman for updates' option. _________________ Tim |

Hi,
I have now tried to use the v.1.96 maps with the v.2.0 software. This works OK but the routing is still just terrible.
I will revert to using v.1.96 SP2 software and maps until there is a upgrade to the 2.0 software so the routing is usable.
I hate to loose the new features: Outlook contacts lookup and zip-code entry, but I just cannot use the system as it is.
Cheers
