Garmin GTM36 Traffic Receiver

Please be kind to me on my first query in this section.
I have bought a nuvi 2547 and I am slowly getting used to it after a good few years with a tomtom go 720.
I do miss the traffic warnings and ask if any of you Garmin folk can advise as to whether or not the GTM36 will work "straight out of the box" or not.
