Having just had several weeks in France without speed camera data I have to say, despite everyone's hard work in compiling them, that they are totally unnecessary! The most useful speed info for me is a reminder of the speed limit of the area I am driving in. This info is built into the map data and continually displayed. I am sure for some 'fast' drivers this comment will raise many howls of protest! |

The built in ones on your satnav are very good. Unfortunately they are not always correct! |

As a 'slow' driver, I recently spent two weeks driving round Europe, including having the database running where I was tempting fate - France and Switzerland. There were far too many areas without speed limit data on my satnavs and being a foreigner in all those countries makes me unfamiliar with their (un-signed) automatic speed limits for villages, etc. The database running on my iPhone gave me far more confidence. The built in ones (TomTom) were sometimes OK, sometimes not - just like in UK - unreliable. _________________ Dennis

Agree - I used the TT app's overspeed alarm in Germany & Austria on our summer hols and found it dead handy for warnings, particularly in those little villages on main roads where the limit suddenly drops from 100 to 50 (or even 30!) without signs. I hate unknowingly speeding and found the signage in Europe to be a bit woeful. Info is key, but wasn't always spot on - it was mostly OK though. _________________ iOS rokcs (but my typing - well....)
