I have a trip to Europe planned soon including France, Switzerland and Italy. I will upgrade to the 2012 version of the Volvo software which I believe will have no speed camera alerts on it for France at least. However I believe I can upload a file via USB with POI or "danger Zones". Is this possible and can you help? |

The French police will treat a POI file (with any name) that has specific locations of cameras in just the same way as a file called "Speed cameras", so that's not safe.
That's why companies like TomTom have re-jigged their systems to warn of these "danger zones", but these are cleverly randomised so the exact start and end positions are different every time. But to achieve that requires a whole new piece of software to be developed and installed, so you'll need to find out if Volvo have done so.
But if you have an Aston Martin Vantage, can't you just employ a man with a good memory to sit beside you and tell you where the cameras are? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Edit - This reply missed the point and has nothing to do with Danger Zones. Sorry, Ali.
Hi CraigV12V,
Does anything in this post help?

If it does, you can reward me with a lift into town as you'll undoubtedly drive by Figueres on your European Journey
Also. If you have either an Android smartphone or iPod/iPad you may find the free CamerAlert app much easier to use. I keep the French cameras off of my SatNavs and rely solely on my phone these days. It's more discrete if you happen to get stopped by the police
Click on the CamerAlert link in my signature below for more details.
EDIT - There are other links to CamerAlert in the margin to the right of this reply. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Sorry, no lifts as the missus is in the passenger seat.
I have subscribed to the database and will rely on phone for camera detection and and the built in Volvo satnav for directions. Just need a phone mount now.
Think this is the best solution. |

Oh Well!
Good choice, CamerAlert by far the best and easiest solution methinks. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
