I have a GO 950 live with Europe map V885 and app. 7.903 on the internal drive and North America map V840 App. 9.430 on a SD card. I only want to up date the UK map as I do not leave the UK.
What is the best way to do this. _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

Right at this exact moment in time, your Europe map v885 is the latest, so doesn't need to be updated. A new map is due to be released any day now. If you have subscribed to the Map Update Service you'll be able to download when it comes out, otherwise you'll have to pay for it when you want it.
Normally, you would not be offered an update for the North America map, although that might be different if you select the SD card when you connect to computer. To be sure, take the SD card out before connecting to computer, then there'll be no indication that you've got the NA map. I expect you'll also be given the update to App 9.430 for Internal drive. If you don't want 9.430 on internal, make sure you take a full backup of it (using Windows Explorer) so that you can put it back once you've got the map. But you really should be on at least App 8.xxx. _________________ Dennis

Thank you Dennisn for your input. When I update my cameras every Thursday I choose the internal drive first then when it has updated I then copy and paste the new cameras to my Europe folder, then I choose operate my go and change maps to North America and then update that (not the cameras). Then change back to the Europe map before disconnecting from home. I have now done what you suggest and taken the sd card out then connected to home but is does not give me any updates for the App. _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

DennisN, can I just update to the UK & Ireland map which is cheaper rather than update the Europe map? And if so what would I need to do? _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

The way to have the cheaper UK/ROI map on your 950 is to buy that map in Home when you have the 950 connected.
Connect the 950, then using Home go to Add Maps, (or something similar - I have a different version of Home running just now so I can't be sure), then choose the UK/ROI map, pay for it and download it. If necessary, then Change maps to UK/ROI
I'm confused as to exactly what apps and maps you've got on the two devices and on the 950 internal and SD card. Start the 950 without the SD card, then check the map and app versions. I would have expected that if you connect to computer and Home without the SD card in, if it has app 7.903 it should hate it and offer you a much later version - besides which, I don't think you'd get the 950 functionality with 7.903 (and I have no idea where you got it from in the first place).
I'm not sure what you are updating on the 950 NA map? _________________ Dennis

DennisN, sorry for the confusion, my error for not updating my signature.
On the GO LIVE 950, 12GB App. 9.430.890926.1.OS 842337(2008,21/3/2012)Map: Europe V875.3612 without sd card (Internal drive)
and on the GO LIVE 950, 12GB App. 9.430.890926.1.OS 842337(2008,21/3/2012)Map: North_America_2GB V840.2562 when I insert the sd card and change map to North America.
So If I remove the SD card and connect to home then buy just the UK/ROI map I will be able to use and update the UK/ROI map.
As for the NA map on the 950 I have been updates map shares and GPS quick fix I think you call it.
Hope I have made it a bit clearer.
Thank you again. _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

My 5 pennyworth....
You can't "update" a different map to the one you have.
So you can buy the update service for the Europe map, but if you want new UK maps you will have to buy them and start from there with a new update service.
The price for the UK only map is outrageous compared to the full Europe map, so I suspect that getting the update service for the Europe map might end up similar or cheaper at the moment.
Earlier, you said you have the v885 Europe map, but in your last post you said it was v875. Obviously which one you have will make a difference to the price you'll pay for the update service, because part of the price they quote is to get up to the current latest version first.
If you HAVE got the v885 map, then I would say there is absolutely no point in updating the UK map as there will be very few differenced (unless you live very near to, and are affected by, a major new road system... in which case I would wait until the new maps are out and then ask on this forum if someone can check if it has been corrected or not in v890 _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Thank you for your input Andy_P and thank you DennisN for your help.
I have the UK/ROI map V885 on my TomTom GO 500 (wich I lend out to my Grandson) but was going to update my Go950 Live from the Europe Map Ver. 875 to UK/ROI Map ver. 885 as I usually take the Go 950 out with me because of the lane guidance and that.
Thank you all again for yopur help and advice. _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

As I said originally, if you want only the UK/ROI map on the 950, then you have to buy it.
It really doesn't look as though you have bought the map update service, otherwise you'd know what we're talking about when we mention it.
But Andy is right. The update service is usually a better deal than a map purchase. It's quite some time since I came up against the actual figures, but off the top of my head, I seem to recall that buying the update service for a Europe map is about half the price of a single purchase of a new Europe map. At a guess, update service for the Europe map could be about £70 BUT I'm really not sure - I've tried to look, but I would need to be connecting YOUR 950 to Home to check. By comparison, to buy a new UK/ROI map you'd pay about £40. In any event, I think the 12 month update service gives you 4 maps for virtually the price of one.
To get accurate pricing, you need to connect to Home and take it from there, looking at the purchase price of the UK/ROI map and the price to buy the map update service for Europe (Map Update Service gives you at least FOUR new maps over the next 12 months). Just look, then stop and go back to look at the other options.
HOWEVER, DO NOT DO ANY BUYING OR UPDATING THIS WEEKEND. Wait a few days - the next map release is very very iminent and you'd be less than ecstatic if you bought the latest map v885 when v890 is coming out next Tuesday (or sometime VERY soon). _________________ Dennis
