Has anyone updated the TomTom OS to 9.400 and found the the PocketGPSWorld speedcamera database isn't showing on the map? This has happened on my TT GO 720. I no longer see the cameras or get the warnings despite the fact that they are enabled to be shown on the maps, and warnings are set.

If this is a deliberate move by TomTom, perhaps to improve sales of its own camera database it is outrageous arrogance. I could not deselect the update and was not told of the lack of functionality with the new OS. [/b]

No. I suspect you would have seen more outrage/panic on this forum if that had been the case.

Did you also install the new map (885) which came out just a couple of days after the new firmware?

If you did, then you will need to replace the mapsettings.cfg file (inside your map folder) with the one from your backup. You did have a backup, didn't you?

On my 750 Live, all the favourites etc were retained on loading the new map - on my 720 they all disappeared until I replaced the mapsettings.cfg file from my backup and navigated to a favourite using 'Operate my Go' in tomtom Home. All was then well...

On newer models, your settings SHOULD get carried across onto a new map (although it still fails to happen quite often).
But on older devices such as the Gox20 range, you'll still need to either copy the old MapSettings.cfg file across manually, or just set up the warnings again.

I'm one of the minority that think you should just bite the bullet and enter the settings all again from scratch. This is because I've sometimes found that although everything SEEMS to work after copying MapSettings.cfg over, the device becomes slightly more prone to random reboots.

Thanks all for your comments and advice.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh on TomTom suggesting it might be deliberate blocking, although I'm sure I read that they were thinking about it on the PGPSW site a few months ago...

I tried adding the .cfg file from the backup (yes I hade one ;-) but it didn't make the cameras visible. I will have a more thorough go at it when I have time and try and build a new .cfg file as suggested. I might try adding another version of the camara database too, to see if that makes a difference. If I find the answre I'll post it here.

Cheers

I don't think that will make any difference. If the files are there in the map folder, then it's just that you need to do the "warn when near" set-up again.

Try it for ONE camera type and speed, and run a demo route past a camera you know of. If that works as expected, you'll know that was the problem and you just have to do all the rest.

Thanks again for your help. I agree that it shouldn't make a difference if I reinstall the POI files for the cameras, but the fact is that the existing files didn't show on the map even though they were installed and ticked to be visible.

Today I connected to TT Home or the GPS fix file and there is a new version of the OS (v.9.401) so there may have been a bug fix perhaps? I installed the new OS and tried the cameras. Still not working. I deleted the camera files and the config file before downloading new camera databese. This time I opted for the 'consolidated' file. I had to set up the warnings again (quicker with the consolidated files but I can't vary the distance according to speed). Anyway, it's working now and better than nothing.

I might try the separate camera files when I have properly tested the current setup.
