Hi, new here.
Can anybody help please?
I'm after getting a new sat nav for the car, I'd like A/V input for a camera (but i would get one without) .... The feature I do need is the ability to download journey details to the pc to use with google maps.
I can't find any sat navs that have this feature....does anybody here know of any please?
I don't understand the A/V-camera requirement, you may have to elaborate on this please.
I'm not sure which current SatNavs, if any, have the ability to record your track and transfer it to your PC/Mac but, if you don't mind yesterdays technology (some would say that it is possibly better than todays technology!) a TomTom Go X20, X30 or X40 running on 8.351 operating system can do this if you install a 3rd party app called Tripmaster from http://www.webazar.org/tomtom/tripmaster.php?lang=uk.
Hopefully somebody with more up-to-date gadgets than I can let you know of any current models.
Also, if you have or are thinking of getting a SmartPhone, the CamerAlet app has an option of recording your tracks and emailing them to you. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I don't understand why 'sat navs' don't record waypoints as standard.... The A/V input would be for a reversing camera to be inputted for display....
.... I guess I'm going to end up getting a garmin 3d thing and a seperate tracker for my download to pc - so I have a record of everywhere driven & at what speeds. and a seperate monitor for the reversing camera .
So if I do go for that which is the best garmin for 3d?... I don't give a hoot about bluetooth or live updates or seeing trafic camera images, I just want a decent sat nav that will re-route at the first opportunity ... which is why I don't consider a tomtom which keeps on telling you to turn around.
I'm out of my depth on the camera A/V so can't comment. Ditto Garmins.
However, hand on heart, my TomToms very, very, very rarely tell me to do a U Turn or turn around, I find them very intuitive and they seem to understand that the reason I didn't Turn Right when told to do so was because I didn't want to go that way and they quickly recalculate a different route.
Have you had a bad TomTom experience then? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I absolutely agree with you there, Ali. The only time my 720 tells me to turn around is when there's no other sensible option, e.g. when I'm heading towards a dead end, or I'm on the right road but travelling in the wrong direction, otherwise it recalculates very quickly. _________________ Anita
