hi all. i have a xda 2 with the latest rom upgrade. and a viking 256mg sd card.
I have installed the tom tom version 3 software to my xda and the map to the sd. south england map(64mg) or so.
Any way about 10 mins into a journey the pda will completely freeze and the map will not update . the only soloution apperars to be a soft reset. this is a frequent happaning .
pls help
Added note : when i installed a region specific. (south east) 32meg to my onboard memory it works perfectly.
this leads me to belive the viking sd is crap.
but i read posts here as it a recommended one.
im looking to get 10x xda's + tomtom + carkit. for my sales team but this aint filling me with confidence.
i have tried reinstalling it many times but a constant problem.
thx in advance.
NOTE 2: i tested it on DEMO mode on a 2h journey with a 64 meg map on sd but it did not crash.... . the 2nd i plug it into the gps unit(tom tom) and do about 10 mins in to my journey it hangs.
v odd. i assume for it to be sd card specfic it would do it on the demo. ? or it could be the way the data is transfrerd and checked between gps and map on sd.
hmmm
pls help. |

mine work ok though it might be worth installing the storage tools app from the downloads area and formatting the sd card this will also wipe the card then reinstall the map and it should work ok it certainly sounds like an sd card problem my xda works fine with the lastest up dates for tomtom and lastest rom also are you using a bluetooth receiver or wired _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. there a tool called storage tools availble from the downloads area (im usless at putting links in sorry) dowload that to the xda put the sd card in the sd slot then do
start>programs>storagetools>
select the sd card in the drop down box then tap formatt and it format the sd card for you the any data onthe card wil be erased it like reformatting you hard drive on your desktop really
and is easier than it sounds _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

Post the markings on the back of the SD card and I may be able to identify the manufacturer of the card. Viking are one brand that switch card manufacturers used.
I fear I'm going to see a Sandisk code...

That's not a Sandisk code. It's not one I do recognise, but it's not Sandisk.

The very fact that a map installed to memory does not result in a crash weheras one installed to SD does suggests the card is the root of the problem. Storage Tools is available here. Install that and format the SD card and then re-install the map.
FWIW I have an XDAII and run a 32Mb Map of SD Card and have had no issues such as you describe so we should be able to resolve this. _________________ Darren Griffin |

im still thinking of getting 14 . should i get the kingston sd's for them.
whats the best choice. as im thinking of getting alot of em i dont really want any chance of getting any manufacture that deals with sandisk.
thx in advance. |

Hi Mcfake
Davidw's advice in this thread is probably your best bet.
