|
|
Hi, Can anyone help with sourcing a adaptor to change my screen mount from a TT520 to XXL. At present I have a perfectly good screen mount that the end simply slides on to adapt to my 520, so I just need a easy port mount to slide on to the same mount and bingo job done. But at present I cannot find a supplier who can help. The type of adaptor is a single slot that slides down to lock into place. I need to use a screen mount as the original mount is not tall enough to sit in the bean bag dash mount that I use.
Any help advise would be appreciated |

There's no such adapter, I'm afraid.
But if I'm understanding you correctly you want to keep the original Go520 mount, and fix an XXL onto it....
How about removing the mounting "ring" from the XXL mount and fixing it to the swivel ball of the 520 mount. Would that do what you want?
I've not done that myself, but I've got an XL/XXL mount in front of me and I've already swapped over a Go940 mount to fit on the arm of an old 520 mount, so I can see the principle would be the same.
The only worry I have is whether the extra weight of an XXL would cause too much vibration on the thin arm of the 520 one (I do get a bit with my 940 on the end of it). _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

No that won't work, the ball on the xxl mount is fixed to the suction pad and not the mounting ring plus the ball of 520 mount is a lot bigger than the xxl.
I have seen universal mounting kits on ebay but they are the wrong type of fitting, they have two sliding parts on the final plate where mine has only one. |

Have you taken the items to bits for a true comparison of the diameter of the ball as every TomTom mount I have disected since the x20 model has used the same sized ball making the device specific addapter that fits the "ball" interchangeable - Mike |

Beg to differ....
Yes, the ball is attached to the sucker - that's the bit you throw away.
The RING is the bit you need to keep which attaches it to the XXL itself.
And the 520 mount arm has the ball on it.
So they fix together.
And the ball IS the same size. All TomTom mounts use a 16mm ball.
If you still don't believe me, I just made what I was trying to describe to you....
The Go and XXL mounts:

I still don't know if that would satisfy you, but it's certainly possible! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I think i may have confused the issue, the mount I am trying to devise is not a TT mount, it's one I purchased off ebay. If I try to use a normal screen mount it fouls on the lip of the beanbag, so i purchased a fancy extension type mount that has a couple of bends in it to raise it up and away from the rim of the beanbag. The mount is a universal type and they simply supply you with the necessary end to suit your particular TT. The fitting is very simple, it looks like a cut out of a cricket bat on the reverse of the adapter and you simply slid it on and press it down . I have managed to find what I need on ebay (£2.17)and have ordered one, it's coming from china so I can expect it some time in June.
sorry if I lead you in the wrong direction, and I could see your solution working, but I think I've found the answer.
Thanks again. |
