I downloaded the database for the first time on 28/08 successfully.
Today I saw there was an update and tried to download, I thought I'd been succesful, however when I look at the files I seem to still have the old files, not the new ones.
I have a Tom Tom 730 - My maps are on an SD card. When I look at the files on the card I have a file folder- PGPSW-speed-cams-be73z at the top of the list, dated 31/08, and then further down the list are the various OV2,BMP, and OGG files dated 28/08.
Can you tell me where I've gone wrong please, and how to sort it out?
Many Thanks

Chris, the file dated 31/08 looks like its still zipped up i.e. in the same format as when it was downloaded, you need to open the zip download on the PC then extract the files contained within it to the active map folder on the device, when the PC asks about replacing files that are of the same name simply click the "Yes to all" option - Mike |

The Extract options I get are:
Content
Extract Entire Archive(I selected this)
or
Extract only the selected items
File Conflicts
Overwrite all files
or
Only overwrite if the archive file is newer(fresher) (I selected this.)Should I have selected "overwrite all files"?
Thanks

I use the overwrite all files option rather than letting the PC decide based upon a date - Mike |

That hasn't worked, I have a folder at the top named PGPSW-speed-cams-F6MW, this contains the file dated 31/08, but further down the list are all the old files dated 28/08 - these are not in a folder.
What have I done?

Have you looked inside that Folder (PGPSW-speed-cams-F6MW)? what is inside it? If it has .ov2 files, click and drag them outside of the Folder so that they over write the previous .ov2 files of 28/8. You can then delete the PGPSW-speed-cams-F6MW Folder to avoid future confusion.
EDIT _ Sorry, I have just re-read yours and mikealders posts. Personally. I'd delete everything and start again. Download todays data base to you PC, unzip the folder on your PC, copy and paste the .ov2, the .bmp and the .ogg files from the PC into the "map folder" on your 730. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Inside that folder are the 31/08 files, the ones I want.
Can I drag em all at once and drop them anywhere outside of that folder? |

Yes, that's right.
But for the future I would suggest you DON'T put the zip archive file OR the folder it produces onto the TomTom, as it can cause this sort of confusion.
How I do it is this:
1. Save the downloaded zip file archive onto my computer (I have a folder called "PGPSW speed cams" and make a new sub-folder inside it named with the date for each new download)
2. Then unzip the archive file into the same folder on the PC.
3. Then look inside that folder and select and COPY all the .ov2 files (in fact there's no need to select any of the .bmp or .ogg files if you already have them, as they do not change from one week to the next).
4. Then browse to your TomTom's map folder and PASTE the individual files into there - answering "Yes" when Windows asks if you want to overwrite the older files.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for all your help guys. I followed Andy's advice and have now successfully copied Aug 31st files, and overwritten the previous ones!
Thanks very much
