Hi
I have the above sat/nav and was impressed initially but after 10 days its turning in to a nightmare. Problems I am having is the screen freezes forcing me to reboot - switching itself off - bluetooth is nowhere near the same as using an earpiece as the other party can hardly hear me and the traffic is way off not once being correct and routing me around for no reason. Now I did think that this would be better than my old street pilot but it looks like I might have a dud one. I have the latest firmware but I am seriously intending sending this back. I have had a look at the 5 inch 2440 which does not have bluetooth or traffic. Should I swap the 1490 for the 2440 or get a replacement 1490.

Mine has none of the problems you mention, so either you have a duff one or you might need to do a hard reset if you've downloaded the latest software (Version 5.30). |

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I now seem to have sorted out the problems I was having and everything now seems to work ok(fingers crossed).

Hi
I should have posted what I did to correct the problems. Well better late than never.
I initially used the sat nav 'out of the box' with no update and all appeared fine.It was then I installed the latestest firmware and the problems began.
Well before I installed the firmware I backed up the associated folders. I decided to copy back the original folders to the sat nav and now with the latest firmware 5.10 and latest map all appears ok. The one exception would be the bluetooth but I bought an earpiece so won't be using the sat nav for that.

It's not unusual for a hard reset to be needed after a map or software upgrade. It's a bit like your PC when you load new stuff, you invariably have to reboot for it to work OK.
I'm glad you got it sorted, and it shows the importance of backing up your Satnav the minute you get it, but if you have similar problems next time try a hard reset first.
You might find even now that solves the BT problem, mine works fine. |
