Problem registering for upgrade to Nav3

I got a bit of a puzzel here. I bought a Nav2 bundle from a Dixons store that is closing down. Hp 2210 and wired GPS for £299.99. I installed the software and typed in the product number and all works very well. As far as I know I did'nt activate the software.
Yesterday decided to register for the upgrade to Nav 3. Typed in product number and it told me that I had'nt activated that product. I followed the activation link and it is now asking me for a device code (or number). How do I find this code as the software on the PDA is not asking to be activated?
Please Help, I'm going crazy here.

P.S. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no need to activate.

This has happened to some people - your only option is to contact TomTom Support.
