Can a Garmin Nuvi 1690 run TomTom maps?

Hello all,
I have been given a Garmin 1690.
Works ok'ish, but I really like my old TomTom.
And this is where the problem lies, it is an old TomTom, and is now past it's best.

What I would really like to do, is keep the Garmin 1690, and run TomTom maps on it?

Is this some thing that can be done? or am I on a planet with the faries again?

Could I install a TomTom map on my 1690?

I am afraid this idea is indeed in the land of the fairies, the TomTom is Linux based and Garmin use their own OS, you can't run TomTom on the Garmin hardware - Mike

And even if you could I'm not sure what you hope to achieve? Perhaps if you could explain there may be a way to get what you want using the maps already on your 1690?
