I've used the forum search function to see if this has been asked before but haven't found anything.
In the lower left of the screen there is a heading arrow, which I thought was there to indicate compass heading, the display is set for direction of travel up.
This pointer appears to be correct for North/South indication but back to front for East/West. I'm confused .... help please?
I am prepared for the possibility that I am making a very basic mistake, but I've revisited this several times over a period of weeks and can't see what I'm doing wrong. |

This sounds EXACTLY like the compass on the TomTom models!
You're travelling East and the compass seems to be pointing to the west?
It DOES seem weird at first, but once you get your head round it, it makes perfect sense. What it is showing you is the NEEDLE, not the whole compass.
When it cropped up in the past there was one person who just couldn't get it and refused to admit he was wrong... so I ended up doing these little drawings. Hopefully it will make sense to a Garmin user too
The way I found helped was to imagine a REAL compass sitting on the dashboard.... The needle would point in exactly the same way. |

Thanks Andy_P,
I knew I was going to make an egit of myself with this question, you are correct this is EXACTLY the same as TomTom.
I have a TomTom so why on earth I didn't cotton on to this I don't know; I'm going to have to blame it on a senior moment .... seem to be having more of them as time goes by ...
Again, many thanks, hope someone else learns from this too.
Cheers
