Either today or tomorrow, the new Facebook Privacy setting called "Instant Personalisation" goes into effect. This new setting shares your data with non-Facebook sites and is automatically set to "Enabled".
In Facebook, go to
Account
Privacy Settings
Apps & Websites
Instant Personalisation
Edit settings
then untick the "Enable" box
NOTE: If your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about YOU as well. Please pass on to your friends.... _________________ Andy

He He. Isn't Facebook a wonderful invention. They'll soon be doing the same thing on Twitter. Why anyone should subscribe to either is totally beyond my comprehention. Do they not have anything better to do that tell the world about their private lives |

Is there a Here, Here (or Hear, Hear) smileycon? I've no idea how to work Twitter and little better with Facebook, but I do believe Facebook is a spawn of Satan. _________________ Dennis

I use Facebook with EXTREME caution
Two simple rules:
Assume that ANYBODY with access to the internet can read your stuff
Never write anything that you wouldn't want your granny to read
The original post was more for the benefit of those who tell the world everything - when they're on holiday, when they get drunk, when they throw a sicky to go shopping etc etc
Facebook will have a scandalous end sooner or later and the sooner the younger generation learn about privacy, identity theft etc the better _________________ Andy

Oh dear, spot the luddites
Both have their place and their uses. They're not for everyone but to discount them just because you don't use them doesn't change the fact that they are popular because the fulfill a purpose. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Whilst I understand the valid concerns regarding Facebook, and am no fan of the service myself, the simplest advice is not to give Facebook any information that you wouldn't display in the open on your own web-site.
Do that and you have nothing to fear. _________________ Darren Griffin |

To be even more pedantic, to be gramatically correct, surely it should be

Oh dear "banter amongst the mods" again....
I just looked on my Facebook profile and the "Enable" box was ticked, but it was greyed out with a note saying I couldn't change it yet. |

it could be that its greyed out as its not in use yet, or its in use but you cant change it and all your data is being shared...worrying thought. |
