Quote: | Michael Thompson, 64, was pulled over by officers in Grimsby in July after warning several oncoming cars of a speed trap ahead by flashing his headlights.
He was fined £175 and ordered to pay £250 costs after being found guilty of wilfully obstructing a police officer in the course of her duties. |
CPS defend decision to prosecute driver who warned of speed gun ahead
My main issue (and one that might be good grounds for an appeal if the system wasn't rigged) would be that the so-called offence was "of wilfully obstructing a police officer in the course of her duties" when surely he did nothing of the sort?
The officer could continue doing what she was doing perfectly well, couldn't he? The man's actions were not affecting her at all, it's just that less offences would occur.
Isn't that a GOOD thing?????
(And how is this different from all those warning signs anyway?) |

So he was helping the Police to their job? I can see that.
I suppose it's like warning a shop lifter that the person near them is a store detective but then which is more important? Theft prevention or catching someone stealing?
To clarify - there is absolutely NO sarcasm in this post at all. Honestly. |
