Hi can anyone help, I bought a XL live IQ on the 7th of November. When I connected it to tomtom home, and used the latest map guarantee it updated me to v855.2884. The latest map v860.1301. Now tomtom home thinks I have the latest map, and when I try to use the LMG again, it finds no updated map. If I go to update map then I am offered the new map to buy.
I have contacted tomtom support, initially they suggested what I had tried already, and when I updated the question to confirm that the problem remained, they suggsted
1. Manual backup of the tomtom onto a backup directory on my computer
2. Remove the map from tomtom home on the my computer tab
3. Remove the map directory from my tomtom device
4. Use latest map guarantee again.
However despite following these instructions, I am not being offered the latest map under the LMG, and I wonder if you guys on here have the answer?
Thanks for any help

You can only use the latest map guarantee once and it appears from your post you used it to update to 8.55. _________________ Drivelux |

Correct. The latest map on the 7th was 855. 860 was released on the 17th so you used your one and only shot getting the 855 map.... |

Ah ok thanks guys, hadn't realised that, it would make sense then to wait until closer to the 30 days had I known - seems a bit harsh though! |

4. Use latest map guarantee again. | Seems like the TT support team have completely missed the target yet again. I would have thought that the first thing they would have done is found out whether central had already used his LMG |

Haha I'd already told them, my first question to them contained the same information in my first post. |

This happened to me also. Very harsh I think too. In fact I emailed TomTom at the time. They said I used my map guarantee and that was that.
I missed the latest map by 2 days! TT wouldn't budge. I thought it was pants then and still do.
I'm sure they could find a way of informing TT home users when the next map will be released to try and keep us informed.

Thing is with cut off points where do you draw the line? At the cut off point? One day later? Two? Three?
Reminisant of those that complained about renewing their PGPSW subs a few days before the price was reduced...... |

But this isnt really the same is it?
It is the difference between offering "any updates to the map released within 30 days of purchase" and "one new map within 30 days no matter how old the map on the device is".
If the map supplied is up to date you get the whole 30 day period to use the LMG, otherwise you are in danger of using the LMG 1 day before a map is released.
If you know TT you wait, otherwise you fall into their trap.
At best it is "sharp practice" - typical of TT these days for very little additional income and further tarnishing their already fading reputation.
