Hi I have just "upgraded" to the above but have discovered that I can't transfer my favourites or POI's from my existing Go model?

Is there any update on when this may be possible as my POI's in particular are vital for me.

Thanks
Howard.

TomTom 'promises' that custom poi support will be available in Q1 of 2011. If that holds true, you can also convert your favourites to a custom ov2 file and add that to the others you want to include on the 1000.

And we did warn you! It's been the subject of a very lengthy thread as soon as we were permitted to discuss it, mentioned in my full review of the GO 1000 and in our Newsletter.

So we're all playing a waiting game now to see what TomTom can pull out of the hat for Q1 2011.

Have they confirmed it will be OV2 and not some new TomTom propriety format?

Yes they have.
According to MaFt's report they will use ov2 and bmp, but are unlikely to provide .ogg audio support, at least initially.

I've just tried to complete a questionaire from TomTom received this morning. OK until I got to the section that wanted 5 reasons why I bought a TomTom instead of any other brand. I could only think of one which came out as "Other" and the other is that I bought a TomTom simply because the two new Garman 3790T I bought both had faults.

But the questionaire insisted on 5 reasons and so I had to abort the exercise.

Only thing going for Tom is the cable is not a stupid thickness and HD traffic is far superior. Maybe that is enough. I will see.

1. I had one Garmin 3790T that was faulty
2. I had another Garmin 3790T that was faulty.
3. The TomTom i bought wasn't a Garmin
4. The TomTom didn't appear to have a fault when i bought it.
5. It is a Sat Nav

There's your 5..... Wink

Sadly, there were only options that were glowing of the TomTom. There was not, (on that page) any option other than to choose 5 prewritten statements by Tomtom out of a choice of good things to say. There were no "cons", nor an option to type freehand so to speak.

Obviously they were sounding out unbiased opinions probably using FIFA style. Shocked

FOund link but only goes to page I had to stop at. It does not accept just one answer. https://n9.noties.nl/v/v.php (Sorry, this probaby does not work as it needs my email address. I will try screen cap.
Can't do that either neither will it copy and pasts. Sorry for half hours read of absolutely nothing useful.

nothing like fixing a bit of research is there!!

imagine if we did a survey like that?

Q: What do you think of the service PGPSW provides?
1) Perfect
2) Wonderful
3) Super
4) Terrific

Then, when we publish the results, we could happily state that 100% of those surveyed said our survey was perfect, wonderful, super or terrific!

But PGPSW still wouldn't be as good as TomTom - you only get 4 positives, and they've got 5 Rolling Eyes

Not tidy and probably not in order

Please name the five most important reasons to choose TomTom over other brands of navigation systems (from the most to the least important).

1 Other
2 Reliable and up to date maps
3 Additional services (such as traffic information, speed cameras, LIVE services, etc).
4 Recommendation from sales staff
5 Choice of voices
1 Best routing
2 User friendliness
3 Good value for the money
4 Because of a good offer (promotion)
5 The way the device looks (design)

1 Attractive packaging / presentation
2 Clear display
3 Previous experience with the brand
4 Size and weight
5 Price
1 Technical specifications
2 For safety reasons
3 Good brand reputation
4 Reliable and up to date maps

If you can't customise your TT1000 at this present time, then how will you able to do this in the future?
How will TT let you add your own POI and PGPSW speed cameras - will they release a software fix or what?

Firmware (software) update will "fix" it.
