Hi Guys,

I have an HP iPAQ H5550 and want to add GPS Functionality to it.

I do a lot of walking in the hills, and would really benefit from the OS maps you can get.

I also do a lot of travelling on the road, so would benefit from, postcode search, point to point instructions, speed camera info and points of interest.

I'm looking for a wireless solution, so i'm guessing Bluetooth would be the way to go.

I will be using it in the UK for mosty of the time, but this year I am planning on doing Route 66 in the States, so the option to get State Side maps would be superb.

Can any one recomend a solution for me ?

Thanks

Danny

Yes, I would recommend BlueTooth for you. For outdoors activities you can choose between the lazy way (Memory Map) or the geeky way (Oziexplorer), for street routing again you can decide how serious it should be - TomTom has the bigger fun factor, Socket and Medion are somewhat in the middle, CoPilot is a serious route planner, and Mapopolis is a lean amd mean speed king.

For the US you should look into a program that can do cross-state routing easily. Interestingly "Route 66" is not available in the states, so you can't drive Route 66 with it... For Hassle free navigation I'd recommend CoPilot , for something easier you can try PocketMap Navigator, and again Mapopolis is an excellent tool if you like it lean and mean. Plus, you can use Mapopolis free for 9 days (but you won't get the Major state roads maps in the demo version, and they are essential for long haul routing
