|

Hi
I have a Smart car fitted with a Pioneer AVIC F910BT sat nav. (Factory fit)
Has anyone else got one of these units in any Smart car or other cars? If you have, how do you find the POI function? Mine tells me my nearest supermarket is in France. Dentist in Scotland. Pharmacy in Dublin. Doctors in Dublin. Nearest Tesco is in Dublin. I live in Somerset and unit is set up for UK POI.
Any suggestions?
Thanks |

Hmm it could be a setting that is wrong or it could be simply a very poor set of POIs?
I assume all other navigation functions are working correctly?
Do you get any closer suggestions if you select Destination | POI | Around cursor? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren
Thanks for prompt reply. All of the settings are correct. The POIs around current position or destintion or along route are the same.
If I set the destination anywhere in Europe (excluding UK) then the POI's work fine. The problem is only when searching for a UK POI. The car is 2010 UK spec direct from Merc/Smart dealer. If the unit works in rest of Europe, it should work in the UK. I could be French and visiting UK. It should work.
I just wondered if others had similar issues. Pioneer say I should use the PETRO STATION search for a supermarket POI. Which, indeed does point me towards a supermarket petrol station, assuming the supermarket has a petrol station. That excludes Lidl, Aldi, Waitrose etc. They have no idea about doctors, dentist, pharmacies etc.
The navigation from A to B is excellent. |

Then it may simply be that the Pioneer has very poor/incomplete POI support.
That does not affect its use as a navigation system but I understand that it would be frustrating if you wanted to search for a specific POI.
Have you installed the PC software to see if there are POI updates available?

Been back to the dealer today. Sat in reception for 1.5 hours while they fitted a new unit which was EXACTLY THE SAME as the unit they took out. can't say I am surprised based on posts on here and information gathered elsewhere.
The POI search for supermarkets etc. as described in earlier posts still fail to work for UK based outlets. They are now going to speak too Pioneer to find a solution
Been there, done that, but I am only one individual.
There must be another 200 Urbans out there with the same problem.
I still feel that if the facility is there, it should work. It's like have a car with a 6 speed gearbox on only 5 work. It will get you where you are going but not at it's optimum performance.
More posts to follow when the next solution is tried.
BTW the dealer said my car was subject to a recall. A fault in the wiring of.........guess what?...........THE SAT NAV |

But did you try the PC Software? The support page suggests it updates POIs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

HI Darren
the latest software version text from Pioneer website is
If the version displayed is 3.020200 or higher, then your product is equipped with the latest version and there is no need for any upgrade.
Mine is this version.
The last 2 upgrades were
Ver. 3.020200
- Countermeasure for blue areas in UK map
- MSN tab appearing in Disc tracklist mode
Ver. 3.010100
- Stability improvement on iPod alphabetical search.
- Improvement on Track Log recording.
- General UI improvement.
These were updated AVIC_F710BT_F910BT_VER_3020200.zip 3.020200 03-12-2009 Update history file 312 MB and prior. No POI updates.
The dealer tried to install their software and the unit would not accept it. The new unit was the same latest version.
Thanks for suggestions

The link was for the Navgate Feeds app, not the system software? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks Darren
Sorry, I misunderstood your post. I am now downloading POI's from my favourite site!

Yay, not a solution to the original issue but perhaps a better end result! _________________ Darren Griffin |
