Hello all.
I have a 76C and I'm going on a motorcycle trip across India in a couple of weeks. i want to take my 76C with me to India but i found out that Garmin ONLY sells either a SD card or a downloadable version of the CityNavigator India map, both are not compatible with my device.
However, these maps are compatable with the 76Cx and the 76CSx versions (SD card) and when i called Garmin they tech rep told me that even the downloadable version is not compatible with my 76C (I dont know why). The only version that will work with my unit is the CD ROM versions but unfortunately they dont sell the India maps on a CD rom.
I managed to find the gmapsupp.img version of Garmin CityNavigator India v2. Can I install that on my device? i feel sad that i have to do this but i cant buy a new device just for this trip and because Garmin doesn't have a CD ROM for this map.
Can this IMG file work with my 76C? i tried to use the mapsettoolkit and cgsmapper and all that and the india map showed up on my MapSource but when i try to transfer it to my device it says "some devices were found; however they might not blah blah..."
what am i doing wrong? |

Two issues: The map you're trying to use wasn't licensed (purchased) for your device, so no help here. But even if you discovered some way to use stolen map data, the India map is likely too large for your 76 anyway. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

Have you tried here for free and legal maps in Garmin format, courtesy of OpenStreetMap.
Sometimes they work on my Vista and sometimes they don't, I don't know why. But it's worth seeing what's there that suits you, and then check if they will work on your device.
These maps will also have smaller filesizes than the paid-for items, I expect, so they'll be more suitable for you.
