Am thinking of buying the USA 8.5 maps from tomtoms website on their SD card. Can i then copy the contents from the SD card to the internal memory of my Tomtom 720 so i can keep the SD card safe ? |

I am not an expert but I would very much doubt there would be room on the 720 anyway, but if purchased on an SD card they wont work on anything else except that card even if there was enough room to copy them.
I guess it maybe possible to have a formal exchange plan with TT for a device that does have the room e.g. TT920, but if so you could then only use them whilst on that device. |

Just insert the US map in the sd card slot on the 720. Your unit will see both maps -- internal and external -- just fine.
Or, get a 4 gb sdhc card and download the North America map to it using Home rather than buying the map on a sd card.
Some suggestions......... _________________ David |

Maps that are supplied pre-loaded to SD cards are locked to the memory cards ID and need to be used from the card, if you copy the card to another card or the built in memory of a device it won't work - Mike |

If you use Home for the purchase of the map it will be locked to the ID of the TomTom, you can then load the map to the SD card or the built in Flash memory or both if you really wanted to - Mike |
