not sure if the 1xl has it but try:
navigate to, right arrow for more options, on this page i have on my 930 latitude/longitude but if you cant see that button try pressing arrow again for more options as the menus are set up differently on various units.

No arrow for more options on the 1XL - I had a Go300 before this one and it had many more options available.

The 1XL seems very basic and I regret buying it.

Are you sure it's a ONE XL? They haven't been called that for quite a long time.

The current models until a few weeks ago were the "XL IQ Routes" (Europe or Regional) and the "XL LIVE IQ Routes" (Europe or Regional)

The LIVE model is unchanged, but the non-LIVE version has been replaced by the "XL IQ Routes™ edition² " (Europe or Regional), and that model has the dumbed-down menu with several sections missing including the coordinate entry.

Take it back "as unfit for purpose". It's the only way TomTom will realise what a big mistake they've made.

Sorry - my mistake. It is indeed the XL IQ Routes™ edition².

I bought it about a month ago (from Halfords) in preparation for a European trip - would they take it back or exchange it for a better model?

What model would you recommend that has a better menu?

If you want to be able to have the whole European map on your device [rather than a section of it at a time] the only device is a 750 with a 4gb sd card. None of the other devices take an sd card, and their memories are too small for the complete new map.

True, but for many (most?) people, that is not a big problem for 99% of the time.

And if you bought a new model now, with the latest maps already on it, they would be the zoned ones anyway.

cn1960....
I would look at the LIVE version of the XL (you get a year's-worth of LIVE and you could drop it after that runs out).
Or the XXL,
or a Go x50,
or a refurbished Go x30 model from the outlet shop on the TT website
