returning on the A52 east of nottingham today I notice that they a preparing to paint 2 lines at each specs location.
I wonder if this is a change of use? maybe instantaneous as well as average speed? or more accurate average speed as a reuslt of challenges?
anyone know?

Or just a bluff? (like all the Gatsos with painted lines on both sides of the road or under motorway gantries without cameras) |

Would that be a double bluff??
Anyway, isn't the perceived wisdom that the lines on the other side are to get you if you speed AND overtake on the other side? _________________ Dennis

I was thinking (twice!) about the ones with lines on either side of the camera itself (i.e. staggered), but in locations where the camera never gets rotated. |

I've never seen two lines painted on the road at camera locations - it's usually a "ladder" either in the middle of the lane or half-ladders at each side.
I suppose it could be to identify which vehicle is being photographed when there are a few in the frame. _________________ Gerry

No - we are talking Gatos (we long ago went off topic, as usual ) Andy_P wrote: | (like all the Gatsos with painted lines on both sides of the road) |

And we are also talking me going on holiday in 27 and three quarters minutes. Tata! _________________ Dennis

Believe it or not, I was having a blind stab at responding to the original post.
I've never seen lines at Specs locations and described the lines seen at Gatsos for comparison which are a different "design" to what is described by kissack ("2 lines"). I then gave a guess at what these lines could be used for without knowing where they are or how long etc.
Remember, the party starts in about 13 mins. _________________ Gerry
