You probably need to buy a unit with truck data in - where you can enter the dimensions, weights, etc and it will (I would hope!) direct you appropriately
TomTom, Garmin and Navigon all produce dedicated units for this purpose
Alternatively something like the Navman units, some of which support route import from Google Maps could be a lower cost alternative - drag your route to a suitable one on Google.com then transfer it to the unit
Otherwise, just watch out!!! _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Or an iGO based unit, into which you can put shedfulls of waypoints (Providing you know the route that you want to take). iGO now does a truck mode as well, but I don't know how good it is.

Satmap Active 10 Pros and Cons???
I don't know anything about Memory Map but their website does say they provide road navigation (the thread itself actually deals with off-road navigation). So this MAY be a way to set up your own routes as you want.
Maybe mikealder can advise whether his suggestion would be relevant to your needs?? _________________ David

Higher end Nuvi's come supplied with a programme called mapsource.
This is installed on your PC and does exactly the job you want.
You can specify waypoints and it will compose a route which you can then modify to your needs. Then the route can be downloaded directly to the Garmin.
Mapsource was supplied with both my 660 and 765. Its not much use on the 660 as it does not accept multiple waypoints but on the 765 I was able to pre-plan my way over 2000 miles round France.
